WHO ARE WE?

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.
But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ;
rather, serve one another humbly in love.

We’re excited that you have chosen to discover more about ESCC.  As you learn more about ESCC we hope you will quickly sense what many have learned – that ESCC is a unique place:
  • ESCC is a place where Scripture is taught unashamedly and truth is not compromised.
  • ESCC is a friendly place where love flows and relationships can be formed with other believers in Christ.
  • ESCC is a place where Chirst is exalted and celebrated at all times.
ESCC is made up of imperfect people, who make up a community of Christians. We’re not big on “religion”, but we do think that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the most amazing thing that any person can experience.

We believe there is a better way to do life and our relationship with Jesus is the key to understanding that difference. Life change happens when we allow God to transform us. We believe that God can make a difference in our lives through the life changing transformation He offers through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.

We are church who embraces change and continues to create a “come-as-you-are” culture where nobody stands alone. We place a high emphasis on being the church and not just attending the church building. We are a people that loves people no matter where they are at in life and what choices they have made in their past. We want to show other people what Jesus looks like through love, forgiveness, compassion, grace and mercy.

At ESCC we are convinced that the New Testament is the model for what the church should be and look like. We consider ourselves an independent, non-denominational Christian Church. We are completely independent and autonomous. There is no denominational control or hierarchy as there is in denominations. We don’t wear labels other than Christian, followers of Christ, disciple. We follow the New Testament practices; baptism by immersion, weekly communion, and our preaching and teaching is about the life change that Jesus Christ offers.

We are living victorious Christian lives and rejoicing in the goodness of God! If you desire more information about our congregation, check out the website, contact the office, or even better, come visit us!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

God
We believe in God. He is, He was, and He always will be. He created the Heavens and the Earth and everything in them. He is known as Father, came as the Son and lives in believers as the Holy Spirit.  Genesis 1:1, Matthew 3:16–17, John 1:1-2, Acts 2:32–33

Jesus
Jesus, God the Son, came to Earth and was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins and rose from the dead. He’s still alive and changing lives today! Colossians 2:9, Luke 1:30-35, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 2 Corinthians 5:21

Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a comforter and a guide for every born-again believer. He actually lives inside of us, His Temple, and does more for us than we can imagine. John 16:8, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 1:13-14

People
We’re not perfect. We’ve sinned — all of us. We need help. We need Him. We also need each other, and that’s what Church is all about. Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Acts 4:12

Salvation
It’s a gift. It’s free. It’s God’s grace, not your good deeds. Jesus’ death allows your sins – all of them – to be forgiven. Wiped out, canceled, deleted, erased…you get the picture. The gift is free; all you have to do is accept it. John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Colossians 2:6, Acts 2:38

Bible
The Bible is the book God wrote for us. It’s true, it’s accurate, it’s authentic and it’s absolutely applicable to our lives today.                  2 Timothy 3:16-17

Our Response
If we believe in Jesus and we want to receive the gift He’s offering, He calls us to confess Him as Lord and Savior, to repent (change our mind about who’s in charge of our life) and be baptized (immersed in water). When we make Him Lord, we enter in to a new life and we follow Jesus all the way to Heaven.  Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16, Acts 8:36-38, Galatians 3:26-27
